Toy Storage: Floor Solutions

Basic is often best when it comes to toy storage. They may not be "off the wall" in the sense of weird or unusual, but toy boxes, benches, and storage chests can literally provide off-the-wall storage solutions that make better use of the available floor space in your children's bed and play rooms. As furniture items, many of these storage products can even serve a dual purpose, keeping floors clean while complementing your home decor.

Toy Storage Bins Toy storage bins are colorful plastic tubs that can be used independently or kept in down-angled rows on a toy storage organizer. Simple and resilient, a toy storage bin is as basic as it gets. However, bins are conducive to very organized storage systems, and are often used in color-coded daycare or classroom shelving units. Plastic lids can also be used for a neater appearance. Tubs are a great choice if cost is one of your primary concerns.

Toy Storage Chests
For a more decorative and traditional approach to toy storage, try toy storage chests. The painted or stained wood finish of these chests makes them an often gorgeous addition to a room, and as wood furniture items they're built to last. Painted toy chests are also terrific for kids' rooms that feature a decorative theme such as pirates, animals, cars/trucks, sports, or flowers. A toy storage chest may even be durable and beautiful enough to be passed on from one generation of your family to the next.

Toy Boxes
Though similar to toy chests, toy boxes are usually a little smaller, though many could be considered either a box or a chest. But no matter what name it goes by, a toy box will provide ample, enclosed storage space. When choosing between toy storage boxes and storage bins, keep in mind that large wooden boxes will be more difficult for kids to move around - which could be a good or a bad thing.

Toy Benches
Another variation on boxes and storage chests, toy benches add yet another level of usefulness. Not only will a wooden toy bench store toys and decorate a room, but its arms and back will make it a handy seat during play time or story time.
